Summer event 2023 – A success – brings in over 39,000 francs

A success More than 39,000 francs were donated at this year's summer event - we are speechless and thank all Friends who took part and those who simply donated from the bottom of our hearts. None of this would be possible without you! We can look back on a perfect and unforgettable celebration! We were able to spend a special evening with dear friends on the terrace of the Haute in glorious sunshine. Theresa Sowry, CEO Southern African Wildlife College, captivated us with her stories about the great work in Africa and touched us deeply.

Kids who care – Respect

Respect yourself! The "Kids who care" project starts with the youngest children: College employees visit schools in the surrounding villages of the Kruger Park. There they not only teach the children basic things about nature conservation and animals, but also how to respect themselves. Because caring is not possible without self-care! The children learn to value themselves in a playful way and to treat themselves with respect. The "care" in "Kids who care" stands for this self-care and care, which is promoted by the project through games and learning units. The aim is to promote "caring communities" that treat themselves and the environment with respect. Respect the others!

Visit to the college – graduation of the students

Since 2020, no graduations have been able to take place at the Southern African Wildlife College due to the coronavirus pandemic. Now, at the end of November 2022, these graduations were finally held. The students of the 2020/21 course once again traveled from Zambia, Malawi and South Africa to receive their diplomas in person.

"Sommervent 2022 - we say thank you - more than 23,000 francs have been donated! We can look back on a successful and unforgettable summer event! We were able to spend a special evening with dear friends on the terrace of the Haute in bright sunshine. Theresa Sowry, CEO Southern African Wildlife College, visiting us again for the first time since 2019, told us about the great work in Africa. New Arrivals “Dogs 4 Rhinos”

The female Edna (a Coonhound breed) has given birth to the next generation of anti-poaching dogs at the Southern African Wildlife College. The K9 unit "Dogs 4 Rhinos" warmly welcomes the 8 new puppies. The dog trainers are already looking forward to training the little guys to become really good sniffer dogs.

Eye in the Sky – the extremely important flight monitoring of nature and wildlife

Two poachers arrested Our "Eye in the Sky" aerial surveillance has discovered eleven rhino carcasses in the greater Kruger Park area in the last two months. A number that is shocking. On the positive side, these sightings by pilot Bruce McDonald have enabled the ground teams (including our K9 unit "Dogs4Rhinos") to respond immediately. Two poachers were apprehended as a result. The surveillance also led to a rhino orphan being rescued and relocated to a safe place. A pack of wild dogs was also moved to a safer area.
