On January 11, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa informed the population that due to the increased and high rate of Covid-19 infections, the government had no choice but to return to level 3 of the lockdown regulations.

All land ports of entry are closed until February 15, 2021. There are only a few exceptions. Three airports – Johannesburg OR Tambo International, King Shaka International and Cape Town International – remain open for people who have tested negative.

Wildlife parks and other parks where access control measures and access restrictions are already in place remain open to the public. However, compliance with the measures will be strictly monitored. Hotels, lodges, bed and breakfasts and other hospitality establishments are allowed to operate at full capacity, but social distancing must be maintained in communal areas.

The impact of the current regulations on the College are:

– We have to work with an occupancy rate of 30% again, which has an impact on the number of courses we can run and the
number of students on site. The
regulations also have an impact on training protocols and the entry of students from neighboring countries.

– Where possible, employees will continue to work from home.

– Our students from SADC countries can take part in the college’s courses, but they are only allowed to enter the country via
Johannesburg Airport. These costs are prohibitive in many cases. However, we are assessing the situation specifically in relation to our new
students for the annual Natural Resource Management course, who are enrolled from Malawi, Namibia and Mozambique – and are hoping for
additional donations. All South African students can start the program – after a corresponding quarantine at the college –
on January 25, 2021.

– We expect some regulations to be lifted or at least relaxed on February 15, 2021. In the meantime, we will continue to do everything
to ensure that the college not only remains operational, but that it can ensure the continued employment of our employees and the education
of our students.
