Summer Event 2026 — A Wonderful Success, with Rain or Shine

Storms, rain, and sunshine—our summer event had it all when it came to the weather. But one thing remained the same throughout the evening: the fantastic atmosphere!
A heartfelt thank you to all our guests, some of whom arrived soaking wet but didn’t let that dampen their spirits. Thanks to you, the evening turned into an unforgettable event full of wonderful encounters, engaging conversations, and great entertainment.

The 2025 summer event was a highlight!
Over 38,000 francs were raised, which will go directly to the projects of the Southern African Wildlife College. Many thanks to everyone who attended and to those who donated.

South Africa’s Environment Minister visits the college

The South African Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and Environment, Dr. Dion George, recently attended a course at the Southern African Wildlife College. Through the course, the Minister gained a deeper understanding of the important work of the rangers, the unsung heroes of South Africa, who work in difficult and dangerous conditions. Another great success

We look back on our 2024 summer event with great joy and gratitude. For the sixth time, we were able to celebrate our event in glorious sunshine on the terrace of HAUTE in Zurich. The delicacies served and the service were outstanding.

More Rhino’s in Africa !

More Rhinos!

For the first time in a long time, more rhinos have been counted in Africa. This is great news and shows that the various measures to protect the rhinos are proving successful. Now it’s time to keep up the good work! The Southern African Wildlife College is also fighting poaching with various interlinked projects.

Kids who care – Respect

Respect yourself!

The “Kids who care” project starts with the youngest children: College employees visit schools in the surrounding villages of the Kruger Park. There they not only teach the children basic things about nature conservation and animals, but also how to respect themselves. Because caring is not possible without self-care! The children learn to value themselves in a playful way and to treat themselves with respect. The “care” in “Kids who care” stands for this self-care and care, which is promoted by the project through games and learning units. The aim is to promote “caring communities” that treat themselves and the environment with respect.

Training to become a field ranger is no walk in the park. If you want to work in the bush, you need courage, perseverance, respect and team spirit. All these skills and many more are trained and developed on the Field Ranger course.

“Sommervent 2022 – we say thank you – more than 23,000 francs have been donated!
We can look back on a successful and unforgettable summer event! We were able to spend a special evening with dear friends on the terrace of the Haute in bright sunshine. Theresa Sowry, CEO Southern African Wildlife College, visiting us again for the first time since 2019, told us about the great work in Africa. KapWeine and food scout Richi Kägi provided plenty of enjoyment. DJ Fräne was also a guest again and played the right beats for us. Click here for the picture gallery

Visit to the students

Your support is appreciated – a visit to the students

Last week Bettina and Christoph Weber visited the Southern African Wildlife College. There they met the students who are sponsored by the Friends of African Wildlife. Over dinner, the students shared their personal stories – touching and hopeful! The training at the college gives them a perspective for the future that they often did not have before.
